Truth / Beauty

“The photographs created within the Pictorialist movement are among the most spectacular works of art in the medium’s history. One of the truly international artistic movements, Pictorialism arose in the late nineteenth century out of a desire to elevate photography-until then seen largely in the realm of science as a tool for documentation-to an art form equal to that of painting. (Barrels, 16)”

I have just finished cataloging 18 images by various artists from Truth Beauty: Pictorialism and the Photograph as Art, 1845-1945. These images are available to the SCAD community in the Digital Image Database.  We provide these images in medium and high definition formats with all of the available metadata (who, what, where, etc.).
